Hoarders affects me in the following ways...

Sunday I did something I've done maybe once before in my life.

I got together all the various rags in the house, put them in the washer, rinsed them, washed them, rinsed them again and dried them, then ran the washer with vinegar to clean it. I threw out several that were too yucky to ever use again (so why was I keeping them???)

I know exactly what prompted this, as well as certain other cleaning binges over the past couple of weeks: the new show on A&E about hoarders.

Well, that and watching a decorating show while enjoying my morning tea, although I'm finding that this particular decorator's finished rooms all have a sameness to them, and it's not exactly my taste or what I'd do.

Yep, TV is inspiring me to clean my house and get rid of stuff I don't need or use, and to better maintain what I do have.

So you know what I think would be cool? A show about writing or writers that would similarly inspire me to get - and keep - my butt in the chair. :-)

If you really, and I mean really, want to be inspired to clean up, you need to watch the BBC show "How Clean Is Your House". I mean, it is amazing how some people live.
I admit to a cluttered place, but we have 2 adults, 2 kids, 9 cats, 1 dog, 1 bird, and more books and LPs that a lot of libraries, all in a small 2 bedroom house. My computer and piano are in the dining room, along with the table and 3 bookcases. Need I say we are going to have to move in the next few years?

Hi. I echo Rosemary - "How clean is your house" is an amazing insight into how some people really live. If you recall in an earlier blog I do have to clean up F&V properties (Filthy and Verminous) in the day job. Some of the houses that are featured on the TV programme are as bad as one's I have visited and have had to undertake enforcement work to get them cleaned up. But it does amaze me that people have no shame in allowing a TV crew into their house and literally allow all their "dirty laundry" to be aired on national TV. Take care. Caroline x

I've seen that show and I like how they do the bacterial cultures. I wonder if it'd take something like that with the hoarders on A&E. I also like how they do a follow-up a few weeks later to see if the people are keeping up with the cleaning. I think the blond woman was in a similar show in the US for a while.
