In the learn something new every day category...

One of the bonuses of being a historical writer is finding out obscure, but interesting, facts. Yesterday, courtesy of Old Bailey Online, I discovered that the usual accessory of choice of smugglers was a whip. Cool. I also found some potential story ideas there, too.

In other news, Indigo Books, which controls 65% of the Canadian retail book market, is launching an ebook service. Did you know you can get a Sony reader with air miles?

Hi Margaret, I didn't know that about whips. Research can cull such cool stuff, and story ideas too.

Concerning your post on pages written per week (sprint) I did a post yesterday on my blog that features ideas from your post. It's called Writing Fast. I'm getting some good responses. Just wanted you to know. Kaye

Thanks, Kaye! I'm going over there to have a look. And then I've gotta get back to sprinting. :-)

Thanks for stopping by to clarify that subject, Margaret. I hope I didn't make it sound like you didn't revise your drafts! I also believe that rewriting is writing. Thanks for lending your experienced advice to the comments. My readers are mostly new writers who need to hear that from a seasoned author.

Hey, Kaye, no worries! Thanks for using me as an example. And it just goes to show that after 40 plus books and novellas, I'm still learning how to write, too!
